Organic Farming. Taste: Sleek and vibrant, with medium-bodied flavors of cherry and cranberry that take on tea and forest floor accents as this builds toward zesty tannins. The wine's flavors are tart and bright, with rose hips, lemon and blackberry.

Grape: Pinot Noir

Where: Willamette Valley, Oregon

Country: USA

Critic tasting note: (2022 vintage) "Sleek and vibrant, with medium-bodied flavors of cherry and cranberry that take on tea and forest floor accents as this builds toward zesty tannins. The wine's flavors are tart and bright, with rose hips, lemon and not-quite-ripe blackberries battling it out. Immense tannins are matched by laser beam-like acidity. Great value here." - Wine Enthusiast

About the Wine: To make the Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, fruit from each vineyard block is fermented separately in small, temperature controlled steel tanks, hand punched down twice daily, and barreled in french oak barrels. After 10 months of aging in French oak, the wine we choose for our Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is carefully blended to produce the most approachable, well-balanced Pinot Noir we make.

.

About the Producer: Elk Cove Vineyards is one of Oregon's oldest and most respected wine producers. Established in 1974 by Pat and Joe Campbell on a secluded property in North Willamette Valley, they only produce Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Riesling. The first vineyards were planted on steep south facing slopes of the Chehelam Mountains to Willakenzie silty loam and Laurelwood red-shot volcanic soils. The 600 acre, sustainably farmed estate is divided into four major parcels: La Boheme, Roosevelt, Mount Richmond and Five Mountain Vineyard. Winemaker Adam Campbell continues the family tradition of noninterventionist winemaking through proper site selection, meticulous vine management and low yields. He hand selects only the finest French oak barrels – three year old, air dried Burgundian coopered barrels, with medium toast and tight grain. The Pinot Noirs are racked by gravity from the fermentors to French oak barrels in the cellar.
