Tasting Notes: Bright cherry and powerfull, ripe fruit, spicy. Tempranillo from Vino de la Tierra de Castilla, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain; medium bodied and dry, with dark dried earth and dark fruit, cherry cola, plum skins, and cherry medicinal notes, with medium acid and a dry powdery grip. Palate: flavourful, ripe fruit, good acidity.

Certified Organic. 100% Tempranillo. Avg vine age: 30 years. The vineyards are located between the Jucar and Cabriel Rivers at an avg altitude of 700 meters on limestone/clay soils. Here the vineyards experience a push-pull between the cool, humid Poniente Wind from the Atlantic and the heat of the Levant Wind that comes from North Africa. The result is a large diurnal temperature fluctuation that favors slow ripening and perfect formation of the phenolics. All fruit is hand-harvested. Fermented in temp-control (24-28 Celsius) stainless steel for 15 days using native yeasts. Ageing in cement tanks before bottling.

Vino de la Tierra de Castilla is an emerging Spanish wine region. About 50 miles southeast of Madrid, younger winemakers are creating a home base here for many reasons, and one big one is that the rules are a lot less stringent than most of the legacy Spanish regions. This means winemakers have much more freedom for innovation. This bottle is an great example of these new wave Spanish winemakers innovating with some classic grapes.
