(0234 F2-A1) Larmandier-Bernier Extra Brut Rosé de Saignee 1er Cru, Champagne France NV (750ml)
Base Vintage 2018
Critic tasting note: "A blend of pinot noir with 10-15% pinot gris, co-planted ten years ago, in amongst 45-year-old vines. The nose is very floral with papaya and pink grapefruit, some praline and fresh, rose-like florals. The palate has the same hit of fragrant roses with plenty of peaches and a silky, smoothly textural palate. The entire parcel is macerated for between three and four days, for texture more than color. Very unique. Drink now." - James Suckling

Larmandier-Bernier’s Champagne Rosé de Saignée Extra Brut 1er Cru NV, based on the 2021 vintage, is a unique and expressive rosé crafted using the saignée method, which involves a brief maceration of Pinot Noir skins to achieve depth in both color and flavor. Sourced from Premier Cru vineyards in Vertus, this Champagne highlights Larmandier-Bernier’s dedication to biodynamic farming and minimal intervention, allowing the pure character of Pinot Noir and the Vertus terroir to shine through. The Extra Brut style, with minimal dosage, enhances the wine’s natural acidity and structure.
On the nose, this Rosé de Saignée reveals vibrant aromas of red cherries, wild strawberries, and pomegranate, with hints of orange zest and a subtle earthiness. The palate is lively and textured, featuring flavors of fresh red berries, blood orange, and a touch of minerality, complemented by a fine, creamy mousse. The Extra Brut finish keeps the wine dry and precise, with a refreshing, mineral-driven quality that lingers.
Ideal for pairing with charcuterie, roasted duck, or seafood with rich sauces, this Champagne’s structure and fruit make it a versatile option for various dishes. The 2021 base lends a youthful freshness and energy, making Larmandier-Bernier’s Rosé de Saignée an engaging choice for those who appreciate a robust, terroir-driven rosé Champagne with depth and character.
