About the producer:
Condidered the oldest amaro in the world and is produced by Polini Distillates. Domenico Vittone is widely credited for having created the original Fernet in 1842 in Milan, Italy. His propietary recipe includes an infusion of over 40 herbs, spices and botanicals and the elixir was served in the traditional manner as a medicinal digestif. The current bottling stays true to the original offering and remains one of the highest quality Italian spirits available.

Taste: Very classic Amaro nose of dry wood, spices, dried sweet fruit, almost some grapey hints, and pickled or candied ginger actually. Very nice, very spicy with a lot of character for this style of beverage. Sweet but balanced by classic amaro bitternes
Critic tasting note: Although it appears dark, inky and sinister in the glass, this amaro is on the sweet and gentle side. Think ripe plums, dark berries and cola, with a pleasingly spiced finish and just the faintest bitter edge. It's enjoyable to sip.
